Drug Recognition Training

DRE School Applications are accepted only for scheduled classes. Applications must be approved by the State Coordinator.  You will be notified if your application has been approved. A link to the appropriate application is provided in the class listing. Currently scheduled classes are listed below.

The following courses are offered through the year. Descriptions include course prerequisites and requirements.



Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School for 2018

The application period is now open for the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School. Phase I of the course is being delivered Monday - Friday, May 7 - 18, 2018 in Batavia, NY. Phase II will be conducted in Jacksonville, Florida June 3 - 9, 2018.

Interested officers must submit their completed application, and supporting documentation, directly to GTSC via fax, email or U.S. Mail. Applications must be received at GTSC by close of business on Friday, February 16, 2018. The application can be found at http://safeny.ny.gov/DRE/dre-web/forms-dre.htm. Incomplete applications or late applications will not be considered. Interviews will take place on March 26, 27, and 28, 2017.

January 22 & 23 Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)

February 5 - 16 Drug Recognition Expert Training (DRE) - Phase 1
Morrelly Homeland Security Center, 510 Grumman Road West, Bethpage, NY 11714
Students who successfully complete Phase 1 will be sent to Jacksonville, FL for Phase 2 in early March 2018 for Field Certification Training.

The DRE School application must be received by Friday, November 10, 2017.
Interviews will take place on December 5, 6 and 7, 2017.

April 3 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2018. If you plan to attend, please register at the link above. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course.
IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND!
If you need to recertify within the next six months and your paperwork is complete, you may bring it with you.
