DRE Training

DRE School Applications are accepted only for scheduled classes. Applications must be approved by the State Coordinator.  You will be notified if your application has been approved. A link to the appropriate application is provided in the class listing. Currently scheduled classes are listed below.

The following courses are offered through the year. Descriptions include course prerequisites and requirements.


     
August 22 -
September 2
Drug Recognition Expert Training (DRE) - Phase 1
Suffolk County, New York
Students who successfully complete Phase 1 will be sent to Jacksonville, FL for Phase 2 in early-mid September 2016 for Field Certification Training.

The DRE School application must be received by May 9, 2016.

September 20 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

The training is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bring your DRE Bag and a fully charged tablet.
See the course description, requirements and necessary forms to participate in DRE Recertification Training. The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2016. If you plan to attend, please contact the State Coordinator via email. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course. If you need to recertify within the next six months and your paperwork is complete, you may bring it with you.

October 3 - 7 Drug Recognition Expert Training (DRE) Instructor School for 2016
State Police Troop G Headquarters, 760 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110
Interested officers must submit their completed application, and supporting documentation, directly to GTSC via fax, email or U.S. Mail. Applications must be received at GTSC by close of business on Friday, July 15, 2016. The DRE Instructor application can be found at http://safeny.ny.gov/DRE/dre-web/forms-dre.htm. Incomplete applications or late applications will not be considered.

October 13 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

Potsdam Police Department, 38 Main Street, Potsdam, NY 13676
The training is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bring your DRE Bag and a fully charged tablet.
See the course description, requirements and necessary forms to participate in DRE Recertification Training. The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2016. If you plan to attend, please contact the State Coordinator via email. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course. If you need to recertify within the next six months and your paperwork is complete, you may bring it with you.

October 17 & 18 Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)

The training is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please NOTE: This course is a part of the New York Highway Safety Annual Fall Symposium. There is no registration fee for this class. Please visit https://www.itsmr.org/events/ for hotel reservation information (after July 1).

November 2 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

The training is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bring your DRE Bag and a fully charged tablet.

The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2016. If you plan to attend, please contact the State Coordinator via email and Greg Walker at the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course. If you need to recertify within the next six months and your paperwork is complete, you may bring it with you.
