DRE School Applications are accepted only for scheduled classes. Applications must be approved by the State Coordinator.  You will be notified if your application has been approved. A link to the appropriate application is provided in the class listing. Currently scheduled classes are listed below.

The following courses are offered through the year. Descriptions include course prerequisites and requirements.

Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School for 2017

The application period is now open for the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School. Phase I of the course is being delivered Monday - Friday, February 6 - 17, 2017 in Ontario County, NY. Phase II will be conducted in Jacksonville, Florida in mid-March 2017.

Interested officers must submit their completed application, and supporting documentation, directly to GTSC via fax, email or U.S. Mail. Applications must be received at GTSC by close of business on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. The application can be found at Incomplete applications or late applications will not be considered.

Several changes have been made for the upcoming training. Please read the 2017 DRE Course Announcement (pdf).

November 2 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

Genesee County Fire Training Facility, 7690 State Street Road, Batavia, NY 14020
The training is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bring your DRE Bag and a fully charged tablet.
See the course description, requirements and necessary forms to participate in DRE Recertification Training. The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2016. If you plan to attend, please contact the State Coordinator via email and Greg Walker at the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course. If you need to recertify within the next six months and your paperwork is complete, you may bring it with you.

December 7 & 8 Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)
Westchester Police Academy, 2 Dana Road, Valhalla, NY
The training is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

2017 Upcoming DRE & ARIDE Training
February 6 - 17 Drug Recognition Expert Training (DRE) - Phase 1
Ontario County Safety Training Facility, 2914 County Road 48, Canandaigua, New York 14424
Students who successfully complete Phase 1 will be sent to Jacksonville, FL for Phase 2 in mid-March 2017 for Field Certification Training.
